Jeff Sutherland, Long-Time Publishing Partner To British Columbia Golf Has Officially Joined The Association’s Staff As Director, Communications
Effective March 1st, Jeff Sutherland has started a new position as team leader for the Communications Department. The department is one of four operational groups in a revamped organizational structure for the Association that represents more than 60,000 amateur golfers across the province.
This hire takes place at a time when British Columbia Golf is looking to expand its communications with members and all golfers across the province. In support of that goal, the Board has formed a committee to provide direction and governance.
Sutherland brings more than thirty years of related experience in the golf industry to the position. Aside from heading Inside Golf magazine and its associated website as publisher and managing editor since 1993, he also forged decade-long publishing partnerships with both the WCTA (Western Canada Turfgrass Association) and subsequently British Columbia Golf.
“Taking on this role was a natural evolution for me,” says Sutherland. “Inside Golf was fortunate to have the opportunity to become a partner to BC Golf at a time when the Association had a vision as to what being a strong communicator to their members could be. The chance to be part of the next stage of growing and refining this is very exciting.”
Sutherland joins an established staff that is headed by CEO Kris Jonasson.
“British Columbia Golf has always taken pride in keeping its members informed and up-to-date via its newsletters, websites and social media connections. Our plan now is to build on that foundation and take our communications to the next level,” says Jonasson.
Initial plans for the Communications Department in 2024 call for expansion of the three regional websites plus The Women’s Golf Project and their associated newsletters.
