The addition of a casing-in production line is a direct response to the growing publishing pressures felt by North American printers.
Shawinigan, Quebec, November 8, 2023 – Multi Bookinding, a recognized leader in the North America bookbinding industry, recently announced the successful integration of a state-of-the-art production line for hardcover book casing. With an investment of $4.5 million, the company has installed a Diamant MC 60 Casing-in Line, manufactured in Germany by Muller Martini. By bolstering its production capacity and enhancing operational efficiency, this solidifies its leading position in the sector.
“North American printers face significant pressure from American publishers to meet required production volumes and avoid being 'forced' to print in Asia.” Said Yvon Sauvageau, the company's president. “During the Covid pandemic, demand far exceeded production capacity in North America. The addition of a casing-in production line is a direct response to this demand.”
To enable the integration of this cutting-edge technology and optimize its production capacity, Multi Bookinding had to expand its facility. This 18,000 square foot expansion, brings the total area to 80,000 square feet with a capacity for nearly 800 skids of work in progress. This initiative demonstrates the company's continued commitment to quality and operational efficiency.
