President of HSR Zero Waste and Director of Zero Waste Canada, Jamie will represent Canadian zero waste leadership at the Global Zero Waste Forum 2026 and moderate a June 6 session on organic waste.
Zero waste is both a global priority and a practical local opportunity.
May 29, 2026, Canada — HSR Zero Waste is pleased to announce that Jamie Kaminski, President of HSR Zero Waste and Director of Zero Waste Canada, will travel to Istanbul, Türkiye, to represent Canadian zero waste leadership at the Global Zero Waste Forum 2026.
The international forum will bring together leaders, policymakers, organizations, and sustainability professionals to discuss practical solutions for waste prevention, circular economy development, climate action, and zero waste implementation. Kaminski’s participation offers an opportunity to bring a Canadian perspective to global conversations on zero waste.
With nearly 30 years of experience in zero waste policy, operations, education, and implementation, Kaminski works closely with organizations and communities to support practical, measurable approaches to waste reduction and circular systems. Through his role with Zero Waste Canada, he contributes to national strategies, certification programs, and frameworks that support the transition toward a circular economy.
On June 6, Kaminski will moderate the session “Insects (BSF) and Organic Waste,” which will explore how black soldier fly systems and other circular approaches can support organic waste management. The discussion will include perspectives from Mariana Bonifácio Amâncio, Co-Founder and CEO of GotoFly in Brazil; Piotr Barczak, Program Manager at Africa Circular in Belgium; and Martin Kerres, Climate Change and Organic Waste Management Advisor at GIZ in Germany.
The session will focus on how organic waste can be managed through innovation, bioconversion, strategies focused on climate action, and scalable circular economy models. These topics are especially relevant as organizations and communities look for practical ways to reduce landfill dependency, recover resources, and improve environmental outcomes.
“Zero waste is both a global priority and a practical local opportunity,” said Jamie Kaminski. “I am pleased to contribute to this forum and share a Canadian perspective on how policy, education, and implementation can work together to support more circular systems.”
HSR Zero Waste will continue sharing updates and insights from the Global Zero Waste Forum, including key learnings that may support Canadian organizations working to improve waste prevention, diversion, and resource recovery.
