Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation (OTE), founded initially as OCEES International, Inc. in 1998, is renowned for its pioneering work in Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) and Seawater/Lake Water Air Conditioning (SWAC/LWAC) technologies. Our company started with a mission to research and develop innovative OTEC and SWAC sustainable energy solutions for the US Government and the private sector. Today, with more than 30 years of experience, OTE is a leader in researching and developing OTEC and SWAC technologies.
At the forefront of the industry, we are advancing plans for the world's first commercial-scale OTEC facility, a landmark project that underscores our commitment to renewable energy. Our SWAC/LWAC systems further demonstrate our innovative approach to sustainable technology.
OTE’s core technology, OTEC, operates continuously throughout the year, independently of fossil fuels, producing sustainable energy and essential resources like fresh water for food production and economic development. Our lead engineer was the program manager for an OTEC research and development plant, and our team includes a world-leading expert in Heat Exchangers for OTEC technology.
Our research and development efforts include seawater cooling, an innovative and sustainable solution that utilizes deep, cold seawater for air conditioning. This technology offers a greener alternative to traditional air conditioning, significantly reducing the reliance on fossil fuels and the emission of greenhouse gases. Not only does seawater cooling offer environmental benefits, but it also presents a cost-effective and energy-efficient option for large-scale cooling needs. Showcasing our expertise in this area, OTE has designed a comprehensive seawater cooling system for a Caribbean mega-resort. This system, serving five hotels and a 100,000-square-foot building, is a testament to our ability to design and engineer a large-scale, sustainable cooling solution.
Our US Government Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) credentials have allowed us to submit comprehensive OTEC renewable energy and SWAC feasibility studies, designs, and proposals to the Office of Naval Research, the United States Department of Defense, the United States Department of Agriculture, and the Legislature of the U.S. Virgin Islands. This work extends to private customers in the UK, Africa, the Caribbean, the Philippines, and elsewhere.
Headquartered in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with a strategic office in the US Virgin Islands, Ocean Thermal Energy Corporation is a beacon of renewable energy innovation and sustainable development, backed by years of hands-on experience.
